LaGuardia Airport's Best Transportation Options (2024)

MTA's Paratransit Access-A-Ride program provides transportation services to qualifying travelers with disabilities who are unable to use the public bus and subway systems. Taxis

New York City taxis serve LaGuardia Airport. Taxis are the most expensive option, but usually the quickest one, too. Follow the signs in the terminal to the taxi stand.

Expect to pay at least $30 to Manhattan, $30 to JFK Airport, and $25 to almost anywhere in Queens. There are extra tolls for destinations outside of New York City, and tipping is customary. See the LaGuardia Airport's transportation page for taxi fare estimates.

Wheelchair and other mobility aid users have several options for securing accessible taxis in all five boroughs of New York City. You can download the Accessible Dispatch app on both iPhone and Android devices, book online, or call (646) 599-9999 to request a ride on demand or schedule one in advance. Note that there are no additional fees for booking through Accessible Dispatch Program - you will pay only the metered fare of your ride.

Buses

The M60 bus goes from LaGuardia to Manhattan at 106th Street and Broadway. It travels through Astoria, connecting to the N and Q subways, and then goes over the RFK Bridge (Triborough) to Harlem in upper Manhattan. It crosses Manhattan along 125th Street with connections to the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, B, C, and D subways. Check the MTA for updates on route times.

The Q47, Q72 and Q48 connect the airport to Queens. Take the Q47 to Jackson Heights for connections to the 7, E, F, M, and R subways. For Flushing, take the Q48. It connects to the 7 subway and the LIRR. You can reach Rego Park, Corona, and Forest Hills through the Q72 from LGA, with connections to the 7, M, and R subways.

For the Bronx, the M60 to Manhattan for a Bronx-bound subway is your best bet. For Brooklyn, take the Q47 to the F subway. Then it's a long haul through Manhattan to Brooklyn.

The MTA Plan a Trip feature easily allows users to plan out their travels using public transit routes. There is also an "Accessible Trip" box you can check, which is helpful for finding the best options if you use a mobility aid. Their web page about bus accessibility will also provide you with detailed instructions for safely boarding, riding, and exiting the bus so you can know what to expect in advance.

Shuttles

Many private shuttle bus companies can bring you to or from LaGuardia Airport. These are usually more large vans than buses. You can arrange a shared ride to destinations across New York City and the surrounding area. Shuttles are often your best deal balancing cost and speed.

Often, in the luggage area at LGA, you'll be approached directly by drivers offering rides. Ignore them and go to a desk or other designated transit spot.

Subways and Trains

There's no subway that goes directly to LaGuardia. Nor is there a train. You'll need to take a bus and then transfer to a subway or train.

For the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, B, C, and D subways, take the M60 to Manhattan.

For the 7, E, F, M, and R subways, take the Q47 to Jackson Heights, Roosevelt Avenue.

For the M and R subways, take the Q72 bus.

For the Long Island Railroad (LIRR), take the Q48 bus from LaGuardia to Flushing. Ask for the Main Street stop with connection to the LIRR. The Flushing-Main Street LIRR station is on the Port Washington line. To reach Manhattan, travel west to Penn Station. At Penn Station, you can also connect with Amtrak and New Jersey Transit.

To connect with the Metro-North commuter line for Westchester and Connecticut, take the M60 bus from LGA to 125th Street in Manhattan.

Rental Cars

The major rental car companies are at LaGuardia. They provide courtesy shuttles from the terminal to the car pick-up centers. However, we do not recommend renting a car if you are visiting New York City. Traffic is congested, drivers are impatient, and highways and streets are confusing. Your better bet is to rely on public transportation and taxis.
